Retail Product
Experience Design
Project Overview
Retail customers often make purchasing decisions without the guidance of a designer or salesperson. For DIY organization products, packaging becomes a critical part of the customer experience by helping shoppers understand the product, visualize possibilities, and feel confident completing their projects.
I designed packaging systems and product visualization experiences across multiple EasyTrack retail offerings, creating intuitive solutions that communicated product value, simplified decision-making, and guided customers from inspiration to purchase.
The Opportunity
DIY customers need to quickly understand:
What the product does
What they can create
Which components they need
Whether the project feels achievable
The challenge was transforming packaging from a container into an educational tool that could guide customers through a self-service buying experience
My Role
I led the visual strategy and design execution for multiple retail product launches. My responsibilities included:
Packaging design
Brand identity development
Product storytelling
Customer education strategy
Product visualization
3D render direction
Information design
Retail presentation
Cross-functional collaboration
EasyTrack Create Collection
Helping customers build confidence in a modular closet system. EasyTrack Create Collection introduced a new way for customers to build their own closet solution using multiple product kits. The challenge was helping shoppers understand how individual boxes worked together and what finished configurations they could create. I designed:
The Create Collection logo and visual identity
Packaging system
Product combination guidance
Closet configuration renders
Visual instructions showing which kits create specific solutions
The packaging acted as a self-guided product experience, helping customers understand their options without requiring additional assistance.
EasyTrack Express
Communicating simplicity for a closet-in-a-box solution. EasyTrack Express was designed as a quick and approachable closet solution for customers looking for an easier installation experience. The packaging needed to immediately communicate:
Speed
Simplicity
Ease of purchase
Confidence in the final result
Through visual hierarchy, product storytelling, and lifestyle imagery, I created packaging that helped customers understand the value proposition at a glance.
Garage Essentials
For the garage wall storage kit, the challenge was communicating how the product could transform an everyday space.
The packaging focused on:
Showing the finished solution
Communicating product benefits
Helping customers imagine the product in their own environment
The goal was to move beyond product features and showcase the lifestyle improvement the system could provide.
Designing for Self-Service Customers
Across each retail product experience, the goal was the same: Help customers move from uncertainty to confidence. Through visual storytelling, product renders, and clear information design, the packaging systems guided customers through the same questions a salesperson or designer would typically answer.
Outcome
These retail experiences helped transform packaging into a strategic customer touchpoint by combining brand storytelling, product education, and intuitive visual communication.
By designing for customers who were making decisions independently, the packaging systems helped shoppers understand products faster and feel confident completing their projects.
